‘Teen Wolf’ season 3 to run marathon January 6; Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien to grace ‘Wolf Watch’

You may as well declare Monday “Teen Wolf” day over on MTV, especially as we are starting to get more and more information coming in about just how hard the network is going all in to promote their hit supernatural drama.

The first bit of news worth howling about here is that if you have a ton of time on your hands, there is a marathon starting at 4:00 p.m. on the show’s January 6 return date, where you can see many of the most-recent episodes with limited commercial interruption. Think of this as a nice little refresher in the event that you have forgotten some of the Deucalion saga over the course of the past several months. While not all of that will be important for season 3B, at least there is some insight into the major characters that cannot be missed.

Meanwhile, the show is also launching their first-ever aftershow in the vein of “Talking Dead” in “Wolf Watch,” which will be hosted by former star / “Wipeout” sideline interviewer Jill Wagner starting at 11:00 p.m. immediately following the premiere. (At least MTV has the time right here, unlike what AMC did with “Talking Bad” for most of its eight-episode season.) The first guests for this show will fittingly be stars Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien, and you can also expect some other actors to stop by at some point over the course of the upcoming episodes.

While this is an experiment for the network, it is a smart one. “Teen Wolf” is their highest-rated show, and it only makes some sense that you would want to try and get as much cash from that as you can. The only problem that could come into play here is that some of the younger viewers could go to bed after the show, since this is a school night. But, it’s still a gamble worth taking. AMC is doing what Huell did to that stack of money on “Breaking Bad” with the success of some of their Chris Hardwick-hosted aftershows.
