‘Elementary’ season 2 spoilers: One additional look at Natalie Dormer’s Irene Adler

Some of you may actually have Sherlock Holmes on the brain right now, and for great reason. “Sherlock” is currently in the process of airing season 3 over on BBC One in the UK, and now “Elementary” is preparing for another new episode of its own to air on CBS Thursday night. Not only that, but this is an episode that will feature in particular the return of Natalie Dormer as Irene Adler / Moriarty.

So what is the purpose of the character coming back now? The primary reason for it is going to be a connection to another case, where she could be used as an asset. This is a tempting thing to do given that she is so intelligent and has so much information. Unfortunately, there are also so many drawbacks that come with it. There is no way at all that you can really trust almost anything that she says, and you also have the issue of Sherlock’s own feelings that come into play here.

In the end, it is pretty clear that Holmes has feelings for her still after everything that the two have been through, and that is probably not something that is going to be changing in the near future. Therefore, he has to be watched and handled with even more care than usual. That means that Watson is going to have a job that is equally important to Sherlock moving forward.
