NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: ‘Breaking Bad’ creator Vince Gilligan teases guest spot

It is not very often that you see showrunners start to venture into the world of acting, but that is also what makes the appearance from “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan on “Community” season 5 all the more interesting. He’s a guy with basically no acting experience who was asked by Dan Harmon to appear in an episode.

But just what sort of role is he going to play? Here’s what we can tell you per a report from Entertainment Weekly: Gilligan is going to be a gold-digger who is very persuasive, and he somehow ends up making a fight between Annie and Abed even worse. He was coy when it comes to details, but he did say that his “character tends to employ the phrase ‘Yee-haw’ a lot.” Therefore, it sounds like Harmon is going to use the fact that Gilligan sounds a little bit like an old gold prospector during a Western when he talks.

There has long been a “Community” love affair with “Breaking Bad,” which we first saw when Harmon brought on Giancarlo Esposito (Gus Fring) in order to play the half-brother of Chevy Chase’s Pierce Hawthorne. Since that point, Jonathan Banks (Mike) has been hired to appear in multiple episodes as Professor Hickey, one of the instructors at Greendale who ends up forming a relationship with many characters throughout this season. Now, if only we could get Aaron Paul to come on board as an anger management instructor, all would be perfect in the world. (Of course, Bryan Cranston coming on to teach science would probably be a little bit on the nose.)
