‘The Americans’ season 2 spoilers: Take a first look with Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell

“The Americans” season 2 has already announced that it will premiere on Wednesday, February 26, so why not share one of the first images from it now?

If you look to the left, you can see a photo of Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as Philip and Elizabeth on the FX series, which is going into this new season with all sorts of buzz and hopes for the show to really take things to the next level yet again. As for how they are going to be able to pull that off, that’s a pretty good question.

One of the great things about there being such a long wait between one season of the show and the next is that it really does give the writing staff here some time to sit back and reflect upon what made the first season work so well, and also what were the stumbling blocks. In general, it felt like there were some stumbles early on in the run, but after around the halfway point things really started to level off a little bit here, and we had a show that we can label without question as one of the best things going on cable TV. The feeling of the second half of this season is what we’re more likely to see moving forward, unless there are some major sophomore-slump situations coming up ahead. We’ll just have to watch out and see what happens from here, and be excited if Rhys and Russell deliver the same sort of performances again.
