‘The X Factor’ UK: Is Cheryl Cole ‘expected’ to return as judge in 2014?
How about this for an “X Factor” UK shocker? After thinking for quite a while that it would never happen, it is now looking more and more like a possibility that we are going to see Cheryl Cole actually be back on the judging panel in the new year.
A source told the Daily Mail on Sunday that Cole was “expected” to be back on the panel in the new year in what would be a dramatic turnaround for the show. In reality, this is a move that all parties involved could benefit from in quite a bit way. For Cole, it’s a chance to get back in the spotlight after taking a little bit of time away as of late working on some other ventures.
Meanwhile, for the show it is a chance to try to return to what helped to make them into an enormous success during much of the late 2000s. While there is no word as to if we will see either Dannii Minogue or Simon Cowell back (the latter could depend on the future of the American show), Louis Walsh could probably be convinced to stay put. If he was going to leave after season 10, we expect that there would have been some sort of goodbye package that aired for him after the finale.
Cole’s return is not exactly confirmed right now, but we should hear a little bit more in the new year after some discussions really start to take place about what the future of this series is going to be. She did earlier this year settle a lawsuit with the producers of the U.S. version over her sudden dismissal back during the first season, so you can at least claim that some of her major baggage associated with the program is now over.
