‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 … already? Casting begins

“The Walking Dead” may still have half of season 4 still to air on AMC, but there is obviously not much rest for the undead. After all, the show is already starting up the casting process for the upcoming fifth season!

According to some new notices online, the show is in the preliminary phases right now of finding an assortment of roles (including extras / walkers) for the new season, which will start filming in the spring in air in fall 2014. There are surely going to be a few roles that will be familiar to some longtime fans of the comics, but we also more than expect there to also be a number of just random background zombies or the occasional survivor that is not a part of the Robert Kirkman creation.

One of the major reasons why casting (first found by ComicBook.com) begins for this show so early is simply because there is literally so much to do, and you need that extra time in order to ensure that you get everything right. Filming this show is hardly an easy job; the temperatures are high, there are a number of special effects needed, and the budget towers over many other series. (Granted, so do the ratings.) This show has also pulled off a number of major casting coups over the years, with one of the most-recent ones being their ability to get Michael Cudlitz of “Southland” fame on board to play Abraham, who will be showing up for the first time soon.

What do you want to see on “The Walking Dead” moving forward? Of course, we want to hear some of your thoughts below.
