“The Walking Dead” season 4 has already been going down a crazy road, and in the process, has killed off a series of major characters. The latest examples of that come in the form of Hershel, and then the man responsible for cutting off his head: The Governor.
Typically when you are talking about Big Bads on the show, you’re referring to some of the walkers. The Governor was the first human villain to kick up some dust … but we have it on good authority that he will not be the last.
There is another character in the comic-book universe that is feared (even by some of the readers) in Negan. This is a guy who wields what could basically be described as a pimped-out baseball bat, and is well-known for dealing out all sorts of damage. Is he going to be appearing on the show? It seems that way based on what comic creator / executive producer Robert Kirkman tells Entertainment Weekly. However, it also still seems as though this moment is going to be a little ways into the future:
“There was a lot of breathing room in the comics between them. Whether or not we have the same amount of breathing room, or if we do cut that down a little bit and bring him into the show a little early remains to be seen. But I definitely do think there needs to be some kind of space from a Governor into a Negan. You have to have something of a break in there.
“I wouldn’t expect him to be showing up — definitely not in Season 4. I don’t know. I wouldn’t expect it too soon. But we are all very excited about the prospect of bringing that guy into the show. The plan is that we will see him eventually.”
Personally, we’re more than happy to have a break here between The Governor and Negan, since this is not a villain that we are necessarily rocking back and forth with excitement to see on the show anytime soon. He’ll make for great TV moments when he does, but why hurry that when you have some other great stories to tell?
