‘The Sing-Off’ finale books Pentatonix, Pat Benatar, and 98 Degrees reunion
“The Sing-Off” is pretty much going to be the only new programming airing on Monday night, but in closing the new season on NBC, you are going to get an opportunity to see a variety of different performances, special guests, and some holiday cheer. That’s right: There will be Christmas songs this year!
The special guests for this episode mostly includes people who have some sort of connection to the show already. Pentatonix, the season 3 champions who have gone on to be legends in the YouTube world, will be bringing their brand of awesomeness to the show. Not only that, but Nick Lachey will sing a Christmas hit with 98 Degrees from the group’s past. Add to this the news that Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo will be there to sing, “We Belong,” and it could be a jam-packed hour of fun and entertainment.
When it comes to the judges, the show will continue its own past tradition and have Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Jewel each perform with one of the final three groups. Jewel will sing with country group Home Free, Stockman will be with gospel group Ten, and Folds will sing with the high school group Vocal Rush. Obviously, the fun that is going to come out of that one to us is mostly just that Folds is going to look like the fun uncle to most of these youngsters during the performance.
“The Sing-Off” has posted okay ratings during its run, but most of that is simply due to its average getting warped ever so slightly thanks to “The Voice” helping it out the past two Mondays. We’d love to see it back for another season next year since it is just fun entertainment for the holiday season, but that is hardly a guarantee.
