‘Glee’ season 5: Lea Michele performs ‘Cannonball’ during ‘X Factor’ USA finale

Lea Michele has made a habit out of performing on Fox on Thursday nights, and tonight right around the same sort of time that “Glee” typically airs, the actress made her primetime debut on “The X Factor” with her brand-new original song “Cannonball.”

So how did Lea do? The vocal was very strong, and the lyrics and melody are growing on us every time that we hear them. Probably the most-impressive thing about the song in our mind is that it’s not an easy one to do live. But, she still has managed to figure out a way to do it without having to rely heavily on a backing track, scantily-clad dancers, or a ton of singers surrounding her.

While this was a new environment for her, it also had to be a somewhat-comfortable one as well given that her recent co-star Demi Lovato is in attendance as one of the judges. Demi is in the middle of an arc on “Glee” as Dani, a love interest for Naya Rivera’s Santana. However, her time on the show is probably starting to come to an end thanks to her commitment to music, and the tour that she is getting ready to embark on with a chorus of other ladies in Fifth Harmony and Little Mix. Basically, it’s a tour stuffed to the brim of people that have all sorts of connections to “The X Factor.”

Meanwhile, Lea is also going to be very busy continuing to promote her own music for the next week or so, and from there she will have to try and alternate her work doing this and “Glee” … something that she should be used to by now. She is going to be working quite a bit moving forward with special guest Adam Lambert, which should be something for many Glamberts to look forward to.
