‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ books Adam Sandler for Super Bowl episode
Who says that “New Girl” gets to have all the fun when it comes to booking major guest stars for their Super Bowl episode? You may have heard the news already about the Zooey Deschanel series getting the opportunity to have a special guest appearance from none other than Prince, but now we’ve learned that “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is getting some star power of its own.
According to E! News, Andy Samberg’s “That’s My Boy” co-star and real-life friend Adam Sandler is going to be making an appearance on the show for this key episode as a character who is certainly wacky in his own right: Himself. This role makes sense for quite a few reasons. Adam is first and foremost from Brooklyn originally, and he has the obvious tie to the setting there. Also, he and Samberg are each “Saturday Night Live” alumni, and share some of the same comedy sensibility. But booking Sandler for a TV gig is mostly huge in that it rarely happens, as he has so much money that he could roll around in it for the next 5 lifetimes.
The story for the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” episode is mostly under wraps, but we predict that there is going to be a huge story in line for Terry Crews, given that he made a name for himself in the NFL long before ever becoming an actor. His part here as the Sargent has had most of its humor thus far come in the form of his own fear, as he’s playing a guy who has not been cleared for street duty thanks to some of what he has went through on the streets already.
