NBC’s ‘The Voice’ finale books Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, Celine Dion, and OneRepublic
The finale for “The Voice” is really doing just about everything that it can right now to bring out the big names. Following a show that was a tribute to some past contestants, Tuesday night’s episode will feature performances from a heap of popular artists, whether you are looking at Lady Gaga, Ne-Yo, OneRepublic, or Celine Dion. Not only that, but there are more names coming over the next few weeks.
For us, the biggest surprise of the group here is Lady Gaga, who hasn’t performed on a singing show like this in some time in America. The last time we can think of is a few years ago, when she did “The Edge of Glory” on “American Idol.” Her song for this occasion is “Do What U Want.” R. Kelly is not confirmed to be showing up, and while we’d love to see her sing with a contestant from this season, that seems unlikely.
Meanwhile, Celine and Ne-Yo are going to be performing together, and OneRepublic gets another chance to basically remind you that Ryan Tedder may as well be a fifth judge on the show. He has reportedly written a song for the potential winner of the show, and he was an adviser earlier this season.
As of right now, you can certainly argue that there is the best lineup of performers in the final ever, in between Will Champlin, Tessanne Chin, and Jacquie Lee. The irony here is that while there were so many people talking for so long about how singing show voters were biased against women, and the odds suggest that we’re about to get our third straight female winner of the show. Thankfully, this is a trend that has clearly turned around. Any one of these three could have some success, though Jacquie is probably the one that has the highest odds of success in pop music.
