‘The Mentalist’ season 6, episode 11 preview: When is the show returning from hiatus?
On Sunday night, “The Mentalist” ended its fall run with “Green Thumb,” an episode that effectively tied together most of the story as we know it when it comes to Patrick Jane’s new life. Red John is gone, he is no longer a wanted criminal, and he instead is now a trusted employee with the FBI putting many of his skills to use. Not only that, but he managed to find a way to rope in Lisbon and have her be his partner again.
So where do we go from here, and when will we see the show back? For the latter, we can tell you that for the time being, Sunday, January 5 is going to be the day the show returns. This is the same day that many other shows on TV are also going to be back, including the start of “Downton Abbey” on PBS. The big exception here is ABC’s standard lineup, which is going to change things up in order to push off “Once Upon a Time” coming back on the air until after the Oscars and the Olympics are over.
As for details on the episode, not much is known for the time being except for the title: “White Lines.” This does at least continue the tradition set up by the show as of late in keeping the titles all about colors. We just hope that there is a good mystery here, an appearance from Rigsby and Van Pelt (who are not done with the show yet), and also something that is more than just a standalone hour. We need some sort of further endgame to look forward to here, even beyond just the average mystery and Jane being awesome.
What do you want to see on “The Mentalist” when the show comes back, and do you worry that the show’s best days are in the rear-view mirror? Share below, and click here to read our full review of Sunday’s episode.

Would love to see some more of Jane’s back story and carni days. Also, I did enjoy that Jane is back to his best problem solving in the episodes while he works with the FBI and really hope he stays ahead of Agent Fisher. Finally I would like to see Jane concentrate on a new overall story like the Red John background story but something new and more challenging, perhaps bring in one of his old carni crew as a new villain?

I want them to stop wasting time and get Jane and Lisbon into a realistic romantic relationship. It wouldn’t make sense for them to be with anyone else at this point, so why waste time with triangles etc? Write a compelling love story and leave others out of it. I would hate to see the last episode of the season end with a kiss and end scene. It would be a cop out.

I just regret that the death of Red John was that easy, I was expecting a more fascinating character.Someone as smart as Stiles, but more evil or smoother. I still believe that Mac Callister is not Red John…..

They need to circle back and connect all of the dots from the red john days, for
All the suspense and mystery the red john episodes was
Extremely
Unsatyisfying So many questions not answered The new beginning is great but it was a bs ending to 5 years worst of suspense

Jane needs to warm up the FBI building as its cold and sterile. I like what he is doing as the real Jane and the mysteries are good. I would prefer they use real backgrounds rather than setups as it shows. Austin Airport? really?, If they are located in Austin they should partake of the Keep Austin Weird Scene. Austin is not boring glass buildings at all, but is filled with small quirky theaters and strange landscapes like Zilker Gardens, Lady Bird Park, Barton Springs, The Blue Hole, rattlesnake roundups, Texas state fair, congress Avenue, UT and lots of interesting places for murder and intrigue. There are also many small towns with interesting characters and events. Close to Mexico with its problems and solutions on a national level. Come on Bruno use the location in the show.

White Lines suggests the next episode might be an episode about drug dealers.

I want to see the same solving murders with the old team and Lisbon in charge again rather than the FBI and the new team. I do not like Kim Fisher’s character as she does not fit well in the show. Mentalist, please go back to California and CBI and the way the show was before all the FBI involvement and character additions.

“My Blue Heaven” was a reference to Jane’s island paradise, while “Green Thumb” alluded to gardening. I can only assume “White Lines” will have some connection to the FBI, since Jane & Lisbon are working there now.
