‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Big Cristin Milioti – 200th episode scoop!

Tonight, you are going to get the opportunity to see an important episode of “How I Met Your Mother” in “The Rehearsal Dinner” … but is this really the one that most of you have been waiting for? We don’t think so. Instead, that episode is more “How Your Mother Met Me,” the key 200th one of the series airing next year. It’s the opportunity to see the Mother’s story front and center, and find out at least a few details all about where she came from. Heck, at one point there were those who wanted to see her story become a full-blown spin-off of its own.

While her story is going to be more limited to just a 22-minute run time without commercials, executive producer Craig Thomas seems to suggest in a new interview with TVLine that there is still going to be quite a bit to like here:

“You’re going to be so sick of her by the end [of the series] … If she doesn’t get nominated for a guest Emmy for this episode, I don’t know what one has to do to get that … She’s fantastic in it. Anyone who wants more of her will love this episode.”

She clearly has quite a bit of story to tell based on what we know about her already, in between (at least briefly) being a part of Ted’s class and rooming with Cindy (Rachel Bilson), who Ted dated briefly earlier on in the show’s run.

The second half of the season is as a whole going to be much more centered around the Mother character, thanks largely to everyone starting to get to know her better. Thomas and fellow Executive Producer Carter Bays suggest that in the end, Ted is going to be “very happy.” Therefore, don’t expect some sort of cruel twist to derail everything and destroy his future.
