‘Two and a Half Men’ season 11, episode 8 review: The return of Rose (and Jeff Strongman)

It begins -If you were to rank some of the best “Two and a Half Men” supporting characters over the past 11 years, Rose has to be ranked pretty high. She’s a perennial stalker who has never changed her ways, and it’s for that reason that it is pretty easy to enjoy watching her. Somehow, she is able to be mostly responsible for Charlie Harper’s death, but in the bizarre world that is this show, she still manages to somehow be a part of this universe and not turned over to the police or locked up in some sort of insane asylum somewhere.

Her return this week was in part predictable, but also very funny. She basically was able to use her stalking talents as a way to land a job as the spy for Larry, the boyfriend of Lyndsey who was convinced that she was having an affair on him with … Walden Schmidt. Seriously. He hired a private investigator (Rose) to look into him, and ended basically giving Rose license to get all up in Walden’s business.

This was one of Rose’s clever plans to make Walden believe that there was a hitman after him, lure him to the world’s seediest motel, and then eventually get him so vulnerable that he’ll do anything. Meanwhile, Alan was scrambling to find a way to ensure that his living situation was not compromised in a way that he and Walden couldn’t stay together, and he couldn’t bear to admit to Larry that his pal “Jeff Strongman” was actually the other man. Yes, it’s incredibly dumb that Larry can’t figure this out based on context clues, but this is not usually a show about intelligent people doing intelligent things.

Lyndsey’s plan to save this was all kinds of twisted, but perfect for the show: He convinced him that he had rented out the beach house from Walden to arrange a surprise for him, one that included getting to have a threesome with another woman … Jenny. This plan worked out strangely, and it was funny.

While this show is cruel and at times ridiculous, this was one of the better episodes in a while. Rose made the Walden story great, and there is something still enjoyable after all these years in watching Alan fail time and time again. Grade: B+
