‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: The complicated family tree becomes all the more insane
“Once Upon a Time,” there was a group of fairy-tale characters that somehow managed to all be related to each other. Eventually, you had to start wondering whether or not the entire cast was in some way related to everyone else in the world’s most-uncomfortable family tree ever.
With the revelation that Peter Pan is actually Rumpelstiltskin’s father, we now suddenly have the incredibly-awkward situation where you have Pan related to Rumple related to Neal, who is of course Henry’s father. Then, you have Henry’s mother Emma being the daughter of Snow White and Charming, with Snow’s father at one point being married to Regina. Regina of course adopted Henry, which at least via adoption connects her to everyone else.
Just in case you did not think this could become any more complicated, it’s going to. Executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis confirm to TVLine that by the end of season 3, we are going to meet two more family members on this tree. One of them logically could be the son / daughter of Snow and Charming, given that Ginnifer Goodwin is pregnant in real life. However, we do have to add in here that there has been no indication whatsoever that the pregnancy is going to be used in any way as a storyline for the show.
As for the other one, there are still some grandparents / parents out there for characters that we have not met; also, it would be a surprise if so many of these characters did not have any siblings. The only one that we know about for the time being is David’s brother James, and we can’t see any other character getting pregnant and turning this show into a baby bonanza. Oftentimes, getting just one additional child is more than some viewers are really comfortable with.
Do you have any theory on this? If so, we want to hear it below! Our personal preference would be that in addition to seeing a new child for Charming and Snow White, we also end up meeting someone else from Regina’s past, just to give her that much more dimension. Plus, it’d be nice to see Barbara Hershey again in flashbacks.
