‘The Mentalist’ season 6 spoilers: Moving beyond Red John … but into other colors?
“The Mentalist” season 6 has not just been about capturing Red John, but that is something that we’ve seen in the vast majority of the episode titles. Heck, in just looking back at past seasons you should be able to see just what sort of presence this crazy killer has developed.
But soon, the Red John story will end in an episode that is fittingly titled after the guy’s name. Then, the mystery begins on so many different levels; not only are we talking about what the story for the show will be without having the man around, but also how the show will be titled. This may be one of the only real clues that we have for the future of the story beyond this case, and there has to be something to take from it.
Well, you will be happy to know that there is still a color motif going … a variety of different ones. Following episode 8 (which is “Red John”), the next three titles have the respective colors of blue, green, and white in their names. Is “The Mentalist” just out to make a rainbow? (Yes, we know that there is no white in a rainbow.) We see this more as a symbol that they are just still in the process of trying to find themselves, just as Jane is doing. For the longest time he was only able to see one part of the spectrum that is life thanks to the focus that he had on Red John; now, the world is opening up to array of all sorts of interesting colors.
Could this new spectrum include possibly some more romance … maybe with Lisbon? They will at least be closer to going there in the second part of the season. While there will be a moment between the two of them on Sunday’s football-delayed episode “Fire and Brimstone,” the objective for Simon Baker’s character is obvious to everyone at this point.
Do you like this sort of idea for upcoming “Mentalist” episode titles, and are there any colors that you want to see the show feature for whatever reason? Be sure to share below!
