NBC’s ‘Community’ season 5 spoilers: The premiere title via Gillian Jacobs
Is “Community” looking for a fresh start with season 5? When you think about it, it’s hard to really blame them. This is a show that has undergone another showrunner switch that brought Dan Harmon back to steer the ship in the right direction, and he wants to obviously establish the show yet again as one that got so many people excited in the first place.
With this in mind, we present you with the title for the show’s upcoming season 5 premiere: “Repiloting.” This was a name first stated by series star Gillian Jacbos during an interview on “Bullseye with Jesse Thorn,” where she suggested before giving it away that she wasn’t even sure that she should say the title. The significance of this title is not lost on anyone. Typically, the show chooses to go with names that are representative of possible ridiculous courses that could be taught at Greendale Community College. This one is somewhat different, and a representation that the show is really trying to play up the “fresh start” angle.
Is that a good move? Definitely. We’re not going to sit here and say that season 4 was awful; it was just about as good as your normal TV program. The issue is that “Community” is no ordinary program. It is one of those programs that is exceptional, and we’re talking about everything from the writing to the set design and so on. When this show is going at 100%, there is no better comedy out there.
In other words? There’s no pressure on you at all, Harmon. (Yes, that was sarcasm.) The internet can be quite a collective body of hate, and they wait eagerly to jump on someone who does not appease them. Everyone wants “Community” to be brilliant, and they want it to happen almost immediately. Given that Dan is going to be losing Donald Glover and he’s already lost Chevy Chase (though this may be a good thing), it is more of a challenge than ever before.
