NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Matthew Schuler, Olivia Henken lead team Christina Aguilera

Christina AguileraChristina Aguilera, like many of the other coaches on “The Voice,” as of late, is suffering from a simple case of Never-Winning Disease. Thanks to Blake Shelton more or less being Blake Shelton, there has not been a winner outside of the “Boys Round Here’ singer since the very first season, and that was Adam Levine. None of the other coaches have won, though Usher and Cee Lo Green have at least come reasonably close.

This season, Christina should at least have a good shot. We would place her team behind only Team Adam when it comes to talent, and she’s also got a little bit of everything from soul to rock to country to pop. It gives America a chance to really gauge every genre, and figure out who they love the best from the group.

5. Stephanie Anne Johnson – The great news about Stephanie is that she’s gotten a little bit or airtime thanks to her getting stolen a couple of times on the competition already. The downside? We can’t really sit here and say that she is someone who we remember particularly well for her past performances. She’s got a fun personality, but with some of the other big singers in the competition, she may have trouble standing out.

4. Jacquie Lee – Jacquie’s performances are pretty good, and she has some of the best song selections on the show so far. We hope that she can play up that indie side to make it pretty far in the competition, but right now she is more of a darkhorse than she is a favorite.

3. Josh Logan – A decent amount of screen time coupled with being the sort of likable guy that almost always makes it to at least the top ten. There’s nothing about Josh that screams “future winner of the voice,” but there is a good reason to suspect that he will be a part of the show for at least a little while longer based on his body of work.

2. Olivia Henken – “The Voice” has been dominated by country the last two seasons, but we really don’t get that same sort of feeling this time around. With Blake Shelton taking a big gamble on Shelbie Z. (who we think comes across as too karaoke), this could allow for someone like Olivia to make it pretty far in the competition. She has the vocal talent to succeed, and she also has that sort of artistry that stands out.

1. Matthew Schuler – In the end, we have to go with the guy who has the most hype as Christina’s favorite. Matthew’s got more than just a great voice; he’s also a genuine performer, and the sort that tends to do very well on these types of shows and last for a long time. Christina has never had a contestant in the top 2, and this may be her first real opportunity for that.

Who is the best artist on Christina’s team in your mind? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below! Also, click here to see our rankings for Team Blake, and here for our take on Team Adam. We’ll have our impressions for Cee Lo Green’s team up on Monday.
