ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Why Olivia Pope has more to worry about with Josie
Is Olivia Pope going to keep working with the Josie Marcus campaign, even after being offered a job with President Fitzgerald Grant? That is an issue that we are going to see play a part on “Scandal” season 3 moving forward, and you may get a pretty big hint on it courtesy of an upcoming plotline that features Olivia back in the thick of things.
The upcoming eighth episode of the season is going to be titled “Vermont is for Lovers, Too,” and you can see the synopsis below (via SpoilerTV) that does appear to give away a few hints that Olivia will at least be tied to Lisa Kudrow’s character in some shape or form:
“Olivia and the team must manage a potential crisis with the Josie Marcus campaign while investigating Operation Remington; Cyrus tries to take down Sally.”
While you could take this as a sign that Olivia actually says no to working with Fitz and his Presidential team, the one thing that we have learned with “Scandal” over the years is that it’s very stupid to assume anything with this show. This is a very complicated series, as evidenced by the sole fact that she has been working against Fitz at times throughout the show’s history … while at the same time sleeping with him. Yep, “Scandal” continues to be scandalous like that. It’s also very difficult to tell where Olivia’s head is at most of the time.
As for the Cyrus / Sally story that is referenced here, it’s admittedly a little hard to take Cyrus altogether seriously as a major threat, given that most of his schemes these days fail to really make much of an impact versus what Olivia does. He is almost the sort of melodramatic villain in the sense that no matter what, he cannot really win since the protagonist needs to be able to do what she does. While Cyrus is not really a villain per se, we still feel like the analogy fits.
