ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 5 review: Who tried to kill Conrad Grayson?

Take a look -After a strong start, is “Revenge” season 3 starting to sputter a little bit? This is the problem with this show having 22 episodes a year when it should instead have around 13; there are just too many episodes that really feel like they are dragging their feet, telling a story that could be told in 20 minutes in around 43.

This is what we saw at times from this installment, which took a good half of its episode to really start getting somewhere after spending at least the first half of it wandering around and showing various characters dishing on each other. We learned that there may be trouble for Nolan and Patrick, just like there may be trouble when it comes to Emily and Daniel. There were threats in here that the wedding was off, but let’s be honest here: How many times have we already heard such a threat used on the show before?

It was not until the last fifteen minutes when things really started to get interesting. First, we had the continuation of the relationship between Margauex and Jack, which is actually turning out to be surprisingly sweet. Who thought that these two would be hooking up earlier this season? She’s at least treating him better right now than Emily has as of late.

Then, we moved from that into another shocker: The reveal as to who tried to kill Conrad Grayson. Depending on who said what, there were actually three different answers to this question. Charlotte told Conrad that she did it as a part of a plan with Victoria, and Charlotte went along with it because Victoria told her that Jack was the culprit. Meanwhile, Aiden told Emily that the real responsible party was Patrick, and this ultimately tells us one thing: There are a TON of people who want Conrad Grayson dead. This isn’t even half of the people who want the guy dead and buried, but these suspicions are going to push the story forward hopefully. At least we now know that Patrick is a dangerous guy.

Oh, and the only other stunner in here was that Carl has been sent away for now, mostly because the last thing Jack wants is to continue to expose him to this world. (Plus, Aiden threatened him and that’s usually a good motivation.) Grade: C.
