NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Blake Shelton, Adam Levine set up for more steals

The latest -There are some pretty big things coming up for “The Voice” Monday. Not only is it the start of the all-important knockout rounds, but this is also the first opportunity that we are going to have to see the coaches actually steal contestants during this point in the competition. The fun in here comes via the simple fact that for the first time ever during the competition at this stage, we have a situation coming up where you could have a contestant theoretically stolen get stolen again, and they could end up back on their original coach’s team. We don’t think that would happen, but it would be pretty interesting nonetheless.

Anyway, the video below gives you a sense of not only how some of the coaches are going to prepare for the new twist to the competition, but how the contestants are also going to ready themselves. You have singers such as Nic Hawk, who was let go by Adam Levine before Blake Shelton scooped him up, desperate to prove that he was worthy of that chance. There is also still a feeling that hope is never lost for the contestants this season.

One nice thing about this twist is that it almost forces the show to highlight all of the singers left in the competition, and we therefore will have a start to the next round where we actually know most of the people that are being shown to us. Compared to what we have seen at times in the past, we see that as very good news. It will mean that there are not two or three contestants in the next round that are aggressively over-promoted more than some of the other people for a change. (Hooray!) This season has not always been perfect, but we like how we can sit here at this point and not predict who the favorite will be. (James Wolpert is in our mind the frontrunner, but that may just be because we’re always a fan of the geeks.)
