‘The Carrie Diaries’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Does Samantha Jones have a shocking job?

With Samantha Jones now a part of “The Carrie Diaries,” it is fair to say that things are certainly going to change when it comes to Carrie Bradshaw’s everyday life. She now has a new person in her life who is strong, commanding, and also at times completely terrifying. When we almost consider the period that this show is set in, it makes what she does all the more shocking for the characters, and potentially entertaining as viewers.

So what is coming up now on the series? The new episode airing next week is entitled “Express Yourself,” and the promo below really gives you a sense of just some of the madness that you are going to see. Let’s just put it this way: For this only being the second episode of the season, this is really getting complicated pretty fast.

“Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) and Walt (Brendan Dooling) are faced with kicking out their new roommate when she makes herself too comfortable. Walt summons the courage to tell Bennet (guest star Jake Robinson) how he feels about him at his eighteenth birthday bash — at a VIP Z100 concert — but things go horribly awry before Bennet can respond. Samantha (Lindsey Gort) and Mouse (Ellen Wong) meet, and Samantha wastes no time giving Mouse sex tips. Back in Castlebury, Sebastian (Austin Butler) and Maggie (Katie Findlay) run into each other; and the evening doesn’t go exactly as planned when Tom (Matt Letscher) invites girlfriend Deb (guest star Nadia Dajani) to spend the weekend with him.”

What we want to see moving forward for “The Carrie Diaries” is a subtle movement almost away from the world in the first season, and more towards Samantha and what happens in New York. Given that we know where Carrie ends up, we know that there has to be a point where she really starts to change her life. We expect this to be gradual, and the show would be much better off to let us see that rather than to allow it to creep up on us at once.
