‘Once Upon a Time’: Will Jamie Dornan play Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ movie?
After just a little over a week of rampant speculation, we know for sure who is going to be playing the part of Christian Grey on the upcoming big-screen version of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” As it turns out, the man getting the role is the same person that so many thought would be in the wake of Charlie Hunnam’s exit.
According to Variety, former “Once Upon a Time” star Jamie Dornan has indeed landed the part in the upcoming feature film. He played Sheriff Graham on the ABC series’ first season, but saw his character was tragically killed off in the midseason finale. The Irish actor was one of a few to audition for the role in the wake of Hunnam’s exit, which was reportedly brought on by everything from a busy schedule to personal struggles to even a perceived lack of interest in the fame portion of it.
There are some interesting similarities between Dornan in Hunnam. While Hunnam is English, Jamie is Irish; meanwhile, they both have also played some roles on popular TV series. In addition to be Sheriff Graham, Dornan also starred on the BBC Two series “The Fall.” Given that he has already seen what the media blitz was like for Charlie when it comes to this role, he should be able to handle the rigors of it pretty well.
As for some of the other well-known candidates for the role, you can just take a look at Matt Bomer, Alexander Skarsgard, or Ian Somerhalder; while Twitter was abuzz with all three of them over the past several months, only the “True Blood” star was a real candidate by the time that Hunnam dropped out of the show.
