‘The X Factor’ UK: Abi Alton joins Miss Dynamix’s Sese Foster by being hospitalized
This has turned out to ultimately be quite a weekend when it comes to both “The X Factor” UK and some various illnesses. On Saturday’s performance show, the news broke that contestant Sese Foster of the group Miss Dynamix was hospitalized, and the group was unable to rework their performance in enough time to still be able to take the stage. Thanks to that, they were given an automatic pass to the next round (the only one they will receive under show rules).
But what happened to Abi Alton after the show today? After she narrowly avoided being in the bottom two and forced to sing for her life against Kingsland Road (Shelley Smith ended up being eliminated), she reportedly fell backstage and was hospitalized as a precaution. There was seemingly no major injury, but she was suffering from a sore back and producers don’t want to take any chances given that Abi is a big part of the competition.
While this sort of emergency may have not been noticed on some other shows, “The X Factor” is one where the British press is almost omnipresent for. It is their biggest talent competition, and with almost the entire media focused on one city in London, we catch almost every little thing that happens. In the case of Abi, we’re sure that she did not particularly love having cameras snapping photos of her while being put onto a stretcher on the way to the hospital.
Abi should be fine as she prepares to perform on this coming weekend’s show, which is going to be themed all around songs from the movies. Even when you consider her weaker performance this week, Abi still has to be considered a favorite once she gets back to performing in her element. We just don’t think that she is going to be considered the threat and possible favorite that she once was.
As of right now, the contestants that are projected to be favorites on “The X Factor” UK include group Rough Copy, teenager Tamera Foster, and also mom Sam Bailey, the last remaining member of Sharon Osbourne’s team.
