‘Bones’ season 9: Let’s (seriously) talk David Boreanaz – ‘leaving’ rumors
Usually, we don’t really give any attention at all to stories posted by a few certain outlets out there; but given that this is a subject that there are a few people who are already talking about in some shape or form, let’s go ahead and address what’s going on in the world of “Bones” right now.
Radar Online started to put the internet into hysterics this week with a claim that David Boreanaz is going to leave the show at the end of this season, and that this is not some sort of negotiating tactic to get more money. Remember here that Radar is not the most reliable source for really … well, anything.
But what makes this a discussion-worthy topic is that Boreanaz had considered leaving the show after season 8, and if you consider that Booth and Brennan are getting married next year, it is fair to ask as to whether or not there is any sort of future for the characters left to play on TV. The ratings are not sensational anymore, as both “Sleepy Hollow” and “The Following” each fare better on the schedule whenever they are on. Plus, the move to Fridays in November could be a final nail in the coffin.
Personally, though, we see David’s situation as this: If he was planning to leave, wouldn’t they announce it a la what “Grey’s Anatomy” did with Sandra Oh? You have to take on these situations piece by piece, and the first one is seeing if the show even comes back for a tenth season. If it does, it would probably figure out the cast’s future then. We also don’t imagine the series even continuing without Boreanaz; he is not only one of the two leads, but he’s married to another lead. Unless you ship him off overseas and cut him out for a year (bad move), there’s no logical way to write the Booth character out of the show.
So there is ultimately no real reason to worry if you’re a “Bones” fan. After nine seasons on the air, the one thing that we can assure you of is regardless of when the series ends, Fox is going to work hard to give you the conclusion that you want, and that includes Booth.
