‘The X Factor’ UK: Olly Murs confirms he will join Gary Barlow for judges’ houses
In some shape or form, Olly Murs just cannot stay away from “The X Factor” UK. He was of course first known as a contestant on the series years ago, but he later went on to have a stint as the “Xtra Factor” co-host alongside Caroline Flack (and we very much miss him on the gig).
Well, Olly has now confirmed that for the first time, he will take on a role that is closer to a judge: An adviser at judges’ houses. In a post on his Twitter account, Olly confirmed that he will be joining Gary Barlow for this phase of the competition next week:
“Hey all, so there have been loads of rumours about it & I can confirm that YES I’ll be @GaryBarlow ‘s Guest Judge on this year’s @TheXFactor”
We’re not surprised at all to see Olly back in some capacity for the show this year, given that the producers clearly know that he is both well-liked and a ratings draw. It’s a little surprising to see him paired with the mentor for the groups, given that Olly has little experience in that capacity, but then again that would be like saying that Sharon is not qualified to judge because she’s not a singer. If nothing else, this show allows for this part of the competition to be very entertaining, as there are six groups that will need the guidance of Gary and Olly to figure out if they are worthy of making it to the live shows.
Do you think Olly is the right person to be a guest judge? Be sure to share below! Meanwhile, be sure to also read our review for this week’s “X Factor” UK episode if you haven’t already.
