‘The X Factor’ UK: Hear Little Mix’s (awesome) new single ‘Move’
Maybe it’s the holiday season, or maybe they know that they will get a chance to perform on “The X Factor”; we don’t know the reason, but either way, Little Mix is joining the likes of James Arthur, Union J, and Cher Lloyd with getting some new music on the market this fall.
“Move,” the latest single from the girl group and the only group to ever win the show, hit the British radio airwaves today and we already have a major impression of it: It’s brilliant. This sort of music is not our forte or what we listen to, but it’s still infectious, well-produced, and seems like an updated version of something that the Spice Girls or Girls Aloud would do. We don’t know how it would fare in America, where a chorus with a good hook seems to be the most important thing about a song, but this is going to be a huge hit in Britain. Easily, bigger than anything that this quartet has done in the past.
Basically, it sounds like Little Mix has taken its time in the past year and half really figuring out what they want their sound to be, and then going from there as they try to perfect it. “Move” is the culmination of all of that, and it gives all of Jade, Leigh-Anne, Perrie, and Jesy individual moments to shine. This is the sort of catchy song that someone from the American show needs to put out; while we like Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony, their original music for whatever reason was tailored too much to a young audience, while Little Mix is allowed to cross a broader range of listeners.
