‘Homeland’ season 3 spoilers: Israel production reportedly moved over Syria fears
When you consider that “Homeland” is a fictional show dealing with international relations, there is a sort of depressing irony that goes along with the story that we are about to report.
According to some new reports stemming from the Israeli outlet Ynet, Showtime has decided to shift the international portion of their season 3 filming from the Middle Eastern country over to Morocco, largely out of fears of a strike on the country by Syria in the wake of some recent chemical weapons charges placed against them by America. This is of course a concern for any U.S. production in the region, since the safety of the actors and crew come first and foremost. Of course, this news must also be a source of disappointment for some of the workers who live in the region. (The network has yet to comment on the report.)
Morocco is a location that executive producer Howard Gordon knows well, given that it is the location for another pilot that he is currently working on with studio Fox 21 for FX, entitled “Tyrant.” The country also played host to some filming for “Game of Thrones” season 3, meaning that they are very much equipped with taking on a critically-acclaimed TV production along with all of the crew that are brought in from overseas.
While “Homeland” is predominantly filmed in North Carolina, every season they do shoot briefly in another country a select few other scenes. It has been a while since the show has gone overseas, as most of season 2 took place squarely in America save for some parts in the very beginning.
