‘Homeland’ season 3: Mandy Patinkin talks being Saul, other roles in new video

Remember the days when Mandy Patinkin did not have a glorious beard? Such a time did exist at one point when he was just a man among other mere mortals, trying to make a living as an actor after figuring out what he wanted to do for a living. He has been an accomplished actor for years, but it is “Homeland” that helped him to really take that career to the next level and show everyone just what he is really capable of as a performer.

In the video below, you really get a great opportunity to familiarize yourself to Mandy in a three-minute span of time. You may be surprised by some of the things that you did not already know about him, including how he first got his start in show business, his musical talent, and also what it was like being in one of the most-iconic movies out there for a certain generation. (We’ll leave that a surprise for the video.)

We hope that Showtime does more videos like this, since it’s a smart idea that shows that there are other ways beyond Twitter where you can get to know more about a performer, and have them preserve a certain amount of their own privacy at the same time. We are sure, after all, that they prefer it when there is not someone constantly breathing down their neck for information.

While Patinkin himself does not reveal to much of Saul’s story here, he did explain in another video recently that loyalty is going to be a huge part of what he goes through this year. In the premiere alone, Saul is going to make a choice that is so huge, he may not be able to come back from it if the chips do not fall his way.
