‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Icelandic band Sigur Rós poised to appear
Well, how is this for a surprise? “Game of Thrones” has in the past invited the occasional band member to make cameo appearances on the show, but this time around, they are actually getting a full band to join in on the adventure. According to Entertainment Weekly, the members of Icelandic band Sigur Rós in ón Þór “Jónsi” Birgisson, Georg Hólm and Orri Páll Dýrason are going to be appearing on at least an episode of the HBO smash.
While sources are mum on the official role, we imagine that they may just be playing musicians for an event of some sort. In the past these roles have mostly been just Easter eggs for fans, and not something that impacts the story in a significant way. After all, these band members are not actors, and you don’t want to stick someone with no acting experience in there to have a conversation with Tywin Lannister. Charles Dance would just decapitate you with his eyes.
One possible clue here? The band is filming in Croatia, which to us means that they will be featured somewhere around King’s Landing. Dubrovnik and its surrounding areas are where the series chooses to film the famed site of the Iron Throne, thought most of the interior shots are handed from a soundstage in Northern Ireland. This is also where the majority of the season is filmed. (Producers also filmed some footage in the band’s home country earlier this summer, but not the sort of harsh wintry scenery that they have been there for in the past.)
