‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Doctor Who’ guest lands important role
As it turns out, Mark Gatiss is not the only actor with connections to “Doctor Who” heading over to “Game of Thrones” this season. We’re also now getting one of the other guest actors from the show’s past stopping by for what is a pretty important recurring role.
According to information found in his CV via Winter Is Coming, Rupert Vansittart is set to play the character of Yohn Royce, the head of House Royce who already has quite an interesting connection to the series. If you think back to the opening of the show’s pilot episode, his son Ser Waymar Royce was a member of the Night’s Watch who was killed by a White Walker. He also carries with him the nickname of “Bronze Yohn,” but it is unclear whether or not that will be used on the show at any point.
In addition to guesting on “Doctor Who,” Vansittart has also appeared in “Braveheart,” “Heartbeat,” and most recently “Foyle’s War.” What is interesting is that he is not actually a part of A Storm of Swords, which season 4 is in part based on. Given that we have heard that A Feast of Crows will also be an important part of the story next year, though, hearing this casting is hardly a surprise. He fits in well with the world, and gives us another character to look forward to.
Overall, what do you think about this latest round of “Game of Thrones” casting? We of course want to hear your thoughts below. The new season will premiere this spring on HBO, and you can click here if you want to read more on who Gatiss is actually going to play moving forward.
