As we have said in past “Law & Order: SVU” stories as of late, season 15 is not exactly going to start off swimmingly for a certain Olivia Benson. As a matter of fact, it’s going to feel more like hell on earth.
The photo to the left basically gives you a pretty good idea of what Mariska Hargitay will be going through as an actress as she films “Surrender Benson,” which is the title for this episode. She will be gagged and forced to look into the eyes of a man with a gun. It’s a situation that so many of the women she has saved have been put through, but now, she is in their shoes and forced to rely on her team to come and save her.
We don’t think it is much of a spoiler at all to assume that she at least makes it out of this part of the show alive, judging solely on the fact that Hargitay signed a new deal for the show over the summer and is probably not going to be killed therefore after only one episode, but the larger question we have here is this: What sort of long-term ramifications will this have? Going through something like this has to change you, and we assume that it cannot be for the better. You are going to be traumatized, and it will give you a new perspective on every case that you do. We cannot even imagine Benson wanting to go about her job the same way again on the front line, but every person / fictional character handles a situation differently.
You can get a greater sense of what she will specifically be going through in the promo here, and stay tuned: We’ll have plenty more scoop prior to the return of “Law & Order: SVU” to TV on Wednesday, September 25.
