‘American Idol’ season 13: Hear Harry Connick Jr. open up about judging style
While we still have plenty of apprehensions and fears over “American Idol” having yet another new panel this year, we do at least think that the three people that the show has on board seem like they are going to get along and be less of the massive diva types. At this point, we have to assume that anything along these lines can only help the show, and maybe getting some people around who actually like each other will be a good thing.
For now, what we have to share is this: Some of the first video interviews with the new judges straight from the auditions in Boston. Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban all spoke with a Boston Fox affiliate, and each seemed excited about what they were going to be doing upon making their appearances on the panel. Urban said that the three went out to dinner and had an enjoyable time doing so, and Harry has also promised that he will definitely not be the sort of light-hearted judge that calls everyone “beautiful”.
In case you missed the announcement yesterday, it is also official now that Randy “The Dawg” Jackson will be back with some more sage wisdom this coming season as a mentor, which is not something that we are “jumping up and down about” (to use his term). Basically, we’re replacing a very powerful man in Jimmy Iovine with a guy with some talent, but is hardly the same sort of name in the industry right now.
In hearing these three talk, are you any more excited at all about the panel? Click here if you want to read some more news related to “American Idol,” including why we feel like these three should at least be given some sort of a chance to come out and succeed.
