‘Burn Notice’ series finale: Creator, USA bosses speak out on Michael Westen’s last hurrah
While we are not at the end for “Burn Notice” just yet, there is little question that we are pretty close at this point. Just one week from Thursday, the USA series is going to be preparing to close the book on the seven-year journey of Michael Westen. It’s one that has been explosive and eventful at times, with our only personal regret as a fan of the series being that the show waited much too long before switching to more of a serialized format.
In celebration of the upcoming episode, USA released a statement on Wednesday featuring quotes from some very important people related to the show. We begin with creator Matt Nix, who had the following to say about the emotional process leading up to the end of the series:
“This final episode is a must-see for any BURN NOTICE fan — whether you’ve been with us since the pilot or just caught the occasional marathon on USA. It’s bittersweet to bring the series to an end, but I’m really happy to be leaving viewers with a great series finale. It’s satisfying and has some major surprises.”
Meanwhile, USA co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel also poured on the praise for a show that was a longtime staple of the network, in addition to one of their best performers in the ratings:
“When BURN NOTICE began in 2007, it was one of the shows that reinvented summer television and helped create a new television-watching season. As the series draws to a close, it leaves behind an unparalleled legacy as one of the most popular and transformational shows on television.”
While we’ve heard rumors about everything from character deaths to victories, we want to keep most of the story surrounding this episode for now spoiler-free. Given that there is such a small amount of time left at this point, why ruin the ending for everyone?
We’ll have more on tomorrow’s penultimate “Burn Notice” episode soon, but for now just click here if you want to watch a preview for what will be coming up in the hour.
