‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Official details on premiere
You’ve talked and/or speculated about the final season of “How I Met your Mother” almost ever since the finale came to a close earlier this year, so how about some official details now?
This first episode is entitled “The Locket,” which is a reference to what Robin was so anxiously looking for at the end of last season. It marks the beginning of the journey to Long Island, and based on the photo attached here, it also marks yet another moment in which Ted needs to reattach his brain properly. We understand that he has feelings for Robin that he cannot quite shake, but dude: You got to let her go at some point before she marries your best friend.
The synopsis below also makes it clear that there is going to be some trouble in paradise:
“On their way to Long Island for their wedding weekend, Robin and Barney come across a startling family discovery. Meanwhile, Marshall sees something online that changes the course of his entire journey back east, and Lily confronts Ted about letting go of Robin.”
By the end of this episode, we will hopefully start to see the door close on this Ted / Robin nonsense … but if we are being realistic, that is probably not going to happen. The fourth episode of the season (previously the third before a switch) is entitled “The Broken Code,” and that itself suggests that Ted does something to try and make Robin question her feelings, and Barney is genuinely furious with him for one of the first times in their friendship.
