‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Meet Candice Accola, Nina Dobrev’s new ‘enemy’
What is it about professors on “The Vampire Diaries” that turn out to be so evil? For one example of this, just look back at who we had to deal with last year in Professor Shane. He turned out to be the initial connection to the Silas story, and a big reason why we’re in the situation that we are with Stefan now moving into the start of season 5.
Now, we also know who the latest person with a background in “education” is going to be for the show. According to a report from TV Guide, Australian actor Rick Cosnett has been booked to play the part of Dr. Wes Maxfield, a bright, overly-cocky instructor at Whitmore College, the place in which Elena and Caroline are going to call their home early on in the season. Given that Candice Accola and Nina Dobrev’s characters just can’t seem to catch any sort of break, it will not take very much time for them to realize that this man is not exactly all he seems; there is a dark secret underneath the surface, and it will take a little bit of time to figure that out.
“The Vampire Diaries” has clearly had quite a bit of luck with Australian actors in the past; both Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) and Claire Holt (Rebekah) have been so popular on the show that they are each heading to “The Originals,” where they will be series regulars for this upcoming season. They also have had a core of English actors in the past, led of course by the supremely-talented Joseph Morgan as Klaus.
