‘Parks and Recreation’ season 6: Guess who is behind Tatiana Maslany casting?
While there has been some pretty phenomenal casting that has gone down over the course of the summer for the upcoming sixth season of “Parks and Recreation,” there is one that still has us jumping up and down with excitement: Seeing “Orphan Black” star Tatiana Maslany get an opportunity to strut her stuff here in a role of a possible love interest to Aziz Ansari’s character of Tom. She may only be appearing in a pair of episodes for this upcoming sixth season, but those episodes could end up bringing in a whole new set of fans to the show.
What may come as a bit of a surprise to you is that getting Maslany on the show was actually the work of Ansari himself. Speaking to E! News at the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco, he admitted that he was the person who really pushed hard for the role to happen in the beginning:
“We were trying to find someone and she is so good on that show and then I read that she had a comedy background. So I emailed Mike Schur and was like, ‘hey, what about her?'”
Lucky, Maslany was eager to take on the gig and show a different side of herself … which is somewhat ironic given that she already shares tons of sides of herself courtesy of all of the clones that she plays on the hit BBC America show. “Orphan Black” has become a bit of a cult phenomenon, and we’re already curious to see what all of this talk ends up doing to the show’s second-season ratings.
