‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Michael Trevino on the return of Tyler

While Michael Trevino is not saying it outright at the moment, you may as well take it to be fact: There is going to be an appearance from Tyler Lockwood on “The Vampire Diaries” season 5. Otherwise, there would be no reason for him to do the video below courtesy of The CW.

In the video, Trevino mostly just teases what the world of Mystic Falls could be like with Tyler back rather than confirming anything. He could have another opportunity to be near Caroline, and more importantly than that, there would be an opportunity for them to be together without Klaus breathing down his neck.

For us, what we want to see for Tyler, in addition to some possible Caroline storylines, is simply an opportunity for him to do something different that does not actually have to do with Candice Accola’s character. No offense to “Forwood” fans, but we enjoy the show more when there are stories that don’t have to do simply with some other love interest. There is more to the world than romance, and we would love to see just what these sort of stories Mystic Falls could hold for our resident werewolf now, especially when it comes to finding out more of his mythology. (Werewolf history has not really been touched on so much in comparison to vampires.)

Trevino is still a series regular on the show despite his lengthy absence from the latter half of season 4, so don’t be surprised for a larger story arc pretty soon. We’ll find out more (at least aside from some publicity photos the network is pushing out) hopefully before the show returns on Thursday, October 3 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
