‘The Voice’ UK: will.i.am to return, which nixes ‘American Idol’ season 13 gig

The latest -Well, it’s now official that will.i.am is not going to be one of the next “American Idol” judges. The frontman for the Black Eyed Peas, who has been one of the most-discussed names to possibly join the Fox talent show this fall, has decided to re-join “The Voice” UK for its upcoming third season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. With Sir Tom Jones also likely staying put, this means that the BBC will just have to find two other names to sign up for the show’s revamped coaching panel. Kylie Minogue is currently rumored to be one of the possibilities, but as we reported already that there is no interest from former “X Factor” judge Cheryl Cole.

Since will.i.am cannot be in two places at once, and with two different franchises, this removes him from the competition. While the ratings are much worse, we actually think that “The Voice” suits him better, given that he is a collaborator more so than someone who “judges,” or tells people how they are singing or performing.

So who will be the favorite now for this third seat? Judging by the fact that Dr. Luke has been mentioned, we’re guessing that Fox and new executive producer Per Blankens want someone with a background as a producer, much like the show had back in its first season. The only other name that has been mentioned at times is Adam Lambert, but the last mention we heard from him was months ago, which does not bode well for the idea of him coming back as a judge.

What is your reaction to the news, and do you think that Will really is the best choice for the show this year? If you want to read some more scoop when it comes to the future of “The Voice” UK, be sure to visit the link here.
