ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 6 spoilers: More questions for Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic
In some ways, parts of this are going to feel like a broken record. During the “Castle” season 6 premiere, we are going to finally figure out whether or not Castle and Beckett are going to be spending the next year planning their wedding. Given that it would be the equivalent of pulling out our hearts to split the pair up, we cannot imagine many scenarios where this would happen. However, there are crazy things that happen sometimes on this show, and seeing the couple not engaged right away is a possibility.
For more on the questions that Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic’s characters are going to face here, just be sure to check out what show creator Andrew Marlowe had to say in a new interview with Give Me My Remote:
“Whether it’s in the premiere episode this year or a season from now or two seasons from now, if these two get engaged, I think they’ll have to wrestle with it. Certainly Beckett will have to wrestle with the fact that Castle has been married two times before. And Castle is going to have to wrestle with whether he’s done the right thing. And I think the two of them will have to wrestle with an imagined future together.
“And also, how do they live their day-to-day life and what does that look like? It’s one thing to be hanging out, professionally, with a multi-millionaire dilettante writer who is helping you solve crimes. It’s another to imagine your future with that person and wrestle with your own identity…”
Whenever these two do decide to take the plunge and figure out how they want to prepare for the future, the good news is that there is going to be plenty of drama that is not mutually-exclusive to wedding planning; they will have to actually look at their future seriously, and Beckett will surely debate whether or not she’s really okay with the living arrangements at Castle’s place and the busy life of a famous writer.
We posted yesterday what the title is going to be for the September 23 premiere, so check out what it is and tell us what you think it means.

There are too many spoilers out there already that show that Beckett takes the job in DC, if only for a few episodes. It’s a done deal.
On the proposal side we’ve got two spoilers; 1) the leaked set photos showing Castle & Beckett at the swings where Season 5 left off, her having a ring on kissing Castle and, 2) the YouTube video of the actor’s reading as PI where he referes to Beckett as Castle’s fiance. There’s nothing else pertaining to this that I know of in any other spoilers revealed so far. Most people that’ve seen these call them definitive proof that Beckett’s answer is “Yes”.
On the other hand in the S5 proposal finale, Castle really didn’t look that happy, almost like his hand was forced. And I had the feeling that no way was Beckett expecting it. So is it realistic to think Beckett would say “yes” right away? Some people who look at it from this perspective tend to be part of the AWM conspiracy theory that he’s filmed alternate scenes to throw fans off the track.
I’m not sure but I probably lean towards her saying “yes”. Does anyone else have a different take?
By the way, I think Rick Montross’s idea of the ring and the pen is pretty creative — I like!

Marlowe is just trying to overcomplicate and tease us. Castle has put his life on the so may times. He’s not some dilettante looking for a good time. Hard to believe they have so much to wrestle about after 5 years!
…If my parents “wrestled” so long I don’t know if I would be here today!

@rickmontross:disqus I like the idea of the ring in the opening credits, but I think they would do something that on an actual wedding episode.
I think Beckett will say yes, because she loves Castle. She wouldn’t be that conflicted if she didn’t, she would just leave, it wouldn’t be such a big deal. I believe that that proposal is what she wanted and it’s also what the viewers want. Like you, I think they’ll get engaged, but it won’t mean things will be easy. She could also say « Yes, but not now. »
As long as I get a « Yes! », I’ll be happy.
I once watched an interview on Youtube (from an earlier season) where Stana Katic said :« If she doesn’t kill him, she’ll have to marry him! » Please let it be true!!
We all have real life problems/hardships and I think it’s not too much to ask to let our favorite characters be happy!

If Beckett does not accept the proposal then all the intimate moments and loving nuances that have been uttered for five years and certainly the last two seasons will be lost and I believe the show will lose all credibility. I think the proposal will be accepted (enthusiastically) and the writers will jerk us around with the problems the engaged couple will have doing what they do.
After all, Beckett’s problem with Castle has been his (and her) inability or unwillingness to state their thoughts about the relationship’s future; now, Castle has stated it in the most positive way — “Will you marry me?” The answer has to be “Yes”.
P.S. Another little thought I had: You know how after the 1st segment the Castle logo comes up and the pen drops in from the top? Once in a while they change it to emphasize that particular show — like for the 100th show and for Christmas. My thought is that they will have an engagement ring on the pen for this first show. Fun thought anyway.
