‘True Blood’ season 6, episode 9 preview: Can Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric save the day?

Everything so far on “True Blood” has been building towards “Life Matters.” This is quite possible the most important episode of the season, and one that could theoretically change the course of the entire series once you really start to take notice of almost everything that is at stake here.

So just who is at risk of dying by the hour’s end? Some of the easy characters to identify are the ones that are a mere matter of minutes away from saying hello to the sun, including Jessica, Tara, Pam, Steve Newlin, James, and some others. They are the ones who refused to drink the Tru Blood, and thus have fulfilled a good percentage of Bill Compton’s prophecy.

But what of Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric Northman? By sucking the blood out of Warlow last week, we learned that he has some sort of plan that potentially involves taking matters into his own hands to go out in the daylight, destroy almost every human in his path, and then rescue some of the only vampires out there that still matter to him in the wake of the tragedy regarding Nora. This is a reckless and probably stupid idea, but obviously he is desperate. When you’ve lost someone that has been a part of your life for so many years, it is pretty likely that you’re going to stop making sense to everyone else around you.

If Eric and Bill survive this week, then they are set to have quite a face-off in the finale. Someone else is probably still set to die this year, and while it may not be one of these two characters, we are still on the edge of our seat.
