‘White Collar’ season 5 spoilers: Matt Bomer’s next go-around to only be 13 episodes
For those of you who love your USA series to be a little bit more stuffed when it comes to the overall episode count, we imagine that you may find this news to be a little bit disappointing: “White Collar” is not going to last nearly as long this time around. However, it will still have the same number of total episodes as hit shows like “Sons of Anarchy,” or “Justified.”
The news about the series’ 13-episode order for season 5 was confirmed by Ted Linhart on Twitter, citing the demands of showrunner Jeff Eastin more so than star Matt Bomer, who does have a busy schedule in between film and some other projects:
“To produce the best season of White Collar USA will do 13 eps this season only, so the showrunner’s sked can accommodate both WC & Graceland”
This is more evidence that unlike many other showrunners who tend to delegate more, Eastin is very hands-on when it comes to ensuring that he is frequently involved with almost every single aspect of his series. While this is in so many ways a blessing, there are obviously some downsides that come along with it just in terms of him only having so many hours in a day.
The new season of “White Collar” sadly does not have a premiere date just yet … even though we know for sure that “fall” is going to be a part of it.
What do you think about the shortened order for “White Collar” this go-around? We want to hear some more of your thoughts below! If you do want to read some more news when it comes to the series, our advice is to just head on over to the link here. Thanks to SpoilerTV for the find here.

Could be that Matt is going to be busy filming Fifty Shades of Grey ¿don’t you thing so?, after that maybe White Collar will continue with the missing missing episodes. At least, that’s what I think

No Matt Bomer is filming The Normal Heart but the decision to go to 13 episodes has nothing to do with his schedule (he’s filming White Collar on weekdays from Monday to friday and The Normal Heart saturday and sunday) it’s the showrunner Jeff Eastin’s decision to reduce the number of the episodes because of his new show Graceland :/

I do think 13 episodes equate to one step closer to cancellation because ratings might take a hard hit by moving WC to the fall and those ratings can lead to cancellation. WC may be set up to falter by moving it to the fall and therefore a reason to cancel. I know TedOnTV and his explanationation says otherwise but I think they are not disclosing everyhing to the fans. Burn Notice is a good show to move to the Fall since its on the last season and ratings don’t matter at this point. I hope it is true on what TedonTV says and WC comes back next summer with 16 episodes ( I am ok with 16). Someone said it’s no different from 1st season which premiered in the fall but I don’t see it that way. We’ve come to expect our favorite show to premiere in the summer in July…not another 3 -4 months more ( which also affects the release of S4 DVD because it is usally released right before the new season). So this move s*cks but I hope I am wrong and it really is just this one season that the schedule is wacko.

I’m very very disappointed! not only here in Italy had to wait 2 years to have the 1st series, than as any other go through the winter pause! this year, we’ll have to wait 6 months for the new season and then…only 13 episodes??? actually, I can care less of Graceland! I want 16 episodes of WC! if Jess can do both, he never have to start a new project, or at least make someone else go on with WC

I am confused on the fact that we get 13 GREAT EPISODES even though we were promised 16?? What are the other three crap we don’t get to see. And can everyone please stop talking like robots saying same thing???

Sue I think they mean 13 great episodes to give as much bang for the buck as possible hopefully Jeff will have more time during season 6 and the cast is willing to do the three episodes as a movie or give us faithful viewers 19 episodes to repay our devotion

I am sorely disappointed that White Collar must take a back seat to Graceland. WC is a winner, GL is a stepchild. More WC episodes should be ordered & less GL

Not happy but I understand they are both busy boys we don’t want to burn them out

I agree with all the previous messages. I watch Graceland, but White Collar is much more entertaining. White Collar is my favorite TV program and I am already distressed about having to wait until fall for its return. Now I find I am being shorted several episodes. It is really disappointing. I was afraid that when Jeff Easton got involved with another program, it might be to White Collar’s detriment. Come on guys. You already have many loyal White Collar fans. Please don’t let us down now.

This season is not much different from season1 we had to wait til October for the show to start and there were 14 episodes if there was a god time for a shortened season given the physical and mental demands on matt as Felix this would be it maybe season 6 wil give us those episodes back

First, USA delays the release of Season 4 of White Collar, then delays the start of Season 5, now this shortening of the season. Just a few days on Facebook, WC posted a photo of Neal with a quote from the show “Don’t you have a Child’s balloon somewhere to pop” USA is popping that balloon!!

I’m disappointed by the DVD delay too – but USA doesn’t control that. It’s the studio, Fox.

Love WC. But agree, it’s time for Matt Bomer to move on. He has way too much talent to spend it year after year on the same show. I will miss WC and Neal Caffrey sorely
though:(

“…citing the demands of showrunner Jeff Eastin more so than star Matt Bomer”
The decision to go to 13 episodes has nothing to do with Matt Bomer’s schedule. He was under contract to White Collar first, so anything else would have to be worked around that filming. They’ve certainly given him a little flexibility so he could simultaneously work on The Normal Heart, but it’s just wrong to even suggest that one actor could derail part of a season for all of the cast and crew.

Definitely not happy. I know Jeff Eastin wants Graceland to succeed. I just hope that it’s not at the expense of White Collar. I really don’t want this to be the beginning of the end. White Collar is the best show out there.

What a waste. Graceland is mediocre and not doing well in the ratings. White Collar is great. I hope Matt Bomer moves on after this season. He is too big and good for USA or cable, he should be on the big screen.

Matt signed for seven years he’ll honor that I never warmed to Graceland either but matt cannot work 7 days a week indefinitely so Jeff’s work load helps matt in the long run
