‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5: Paul Wesley spends birthday drowning … in well wishes
Today is a big day for a certain Paul Wesley, and no, it has nothing to do with the Royal Baby being shown off to the world for the first time. Instead, it’s the actor’s 31st birthday! To think, the man was just recently playing the part of a vampire playing the part of a high school student; in addition to being a year older, it now at least appears like he won’t have to do that anymore.
So how did Paul choose to celebrate such a grand occasion? According to a note from his “Vampire Diaries” executive producer Julie Plec on the day before, it seems almost as though a good part of his day was spent being about as miserable as someone can possibly be while still making hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process:
“Tomorrow is @paulwesley’s bday. As a special gift, @carolinedries, @verschoo and I decided to put him in a water tank to drown repeatedly.”
Plec also said that there would be some whiskey waiting for him at the end of the day, so maybe this news for Paul right now isn’t all bad, right? We actually think that he is probably much closer to having his best season yet, at least based on the theory that he is getting to play a pair of characters this year versus just one, and he has always relished the opportunity to do roles that are a bit more exciting versus just having Stefan being the nice-guy vampire (as much of an oxymoron as that is) falling all over himself to please Elena.
If you want to read some more “Vampire Diaries” scoop, this is definitely not the end for you: There’s some more great details about what is coming up for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder’s characters over here.
