‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: Some Iceland filming starting soon?

Game of ThronesGame of Thrones” has always been a series with a keen eye towards international flavors, whether it be in Northern Ireland, Iceland, Croatia, or anywhere else. What is somewhat more interesting this year is checking out the schedule in which some of the stars are actually shooting.

Last year, for example, we didn’t see the likes of Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie arrive in Iceland until much later in the fall; as a matter of fact, they needed it to be late so that there would be plenty of snow on the ground. So what are some of the show’s stars doing in the country now? It’s definitely cause to make you scratch your chin and say “interesting”…

Winter Is Coming found a few tweets as proof that Maisie Williams (Arya) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) are among the two actors currently in Reykjavik, and you have to assume that whatever is going on this summer, it is not going to involve nearly so much snow. Luckily, there is a reason why the common joke exists out there about Iceland not really having that much ice; it’s an ecological paradise for film crews, especially when you consider some of the rugged, unique terrain that the country has to offer. Add to that the benefit of it not being a place that has been completely tapped out over the years, and the potential is still there to find something new and exciting.

Now that we’ve said all of this, please, George R.R. Martin, please don’t kill any of these ladies off! With Catelyn no longer among the living, we do now need some strong ladies to keep up the fight.

“Game of Thrones” is still recovering from a massive weekend at Comic-Con, where neither Williams or Christie were featured. However, if you do want to read more highlights from the event, you can do so over here.
