ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Shonda Rhimes shares premiere title

Scandal

What is “handled” when it comes to “Scandal” season 3? Well, the answer to that is pretty easy: The title for the October 3 premiere. In a post on her Twitter account, executive producer Shonda Rhimes confirmed today that the title “It’s Handled” is going to be the way in which the show chooses to start things off, and that is definitely a name that leads to all sorts of interesting questions.

Let’s of course start here with the obvious: What exactly has been “handled” here? Olivia Pope was definitely given quite a few stumbling blocks to overcome in the final few minutes of the finale, beginning with the obvious: Her secret is now out about her relationship with Fitz! Not only that, but she also has to deal with the new arrival of her father back on the scene, and what that relationship is going to mean for her.

Rhimes has already said that season 3 will start to peel back some of the layers when it comes to who Olivia really is, and from a personal standpoint, we are more than thrilled for that. For a lead character, this is a woman who has really relished the idea of being enigmatic over the past few years, and it will be quite a thrill to see that change somewhat.

As for what else could be “handled,” we wonder just how much of this term is used ironically. Remember, Fitz has some decisions of his own to make in regards to his future in politics, and there is also still the issue of the mole and many other things to deal with.
