‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Is Sherri Shepherd appearing?

“How I Met Your Mother” is wasting almost no time at all when it comes to landing some guest stars for its final season. First, we had the wonderful news that Wayne Brady was going to be coming back for an arc as Barney’s brother James; and now, we’ve also learned that Sherri Shepherd could also be joining the fold.

Why do we say the word “could”? Only because no one from the show has confirmed it. But Sherri herself did tweet out a photo of herself with Jason Segel on set, and we seriously doubt that she was just there to party while everyone else was working.

The entire first episode of season 9 has now been filmed, which is hopefully going to have that sort of delightful “what happens next” feeling to it after we first met the Mother (played by Cristin Milioti) during the finale this past season. The show is getting off to a much earlier start this summer than it has in some past years, which makes us wonder whether or not the series will be wrapped sooner, that way the cast can move on to some other things.

“How I Met Your Mother” will premiere with an hour-long episode on Monday, September 23 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, and will (as always) continue to air half-hour episodes moving forward from that point on. We’re sure that there are going to be many more guest-stars along the way, especially since there will be so many guests attending Barney and Robin’s wedding that could have a place in the world that we don’t quite realize just yet.
