ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3 spoilers: Meeting the secret son of Victoria Grayson

Who is Victoria Grayson’s secret son? It is a question that many a fan of “Revenge” has long pondered ever since the end of season 2, and we’re feeling pretty lucky right now to have an answer before the start of season 3 production.

Sources are confirmed that former “Smallville” and “Emily Owens M.D.” actor Justin Hartley (known for being the Green Arrow before Stephen Amell transformed the character on his own show) has landed the role of Patrick, who for now has some motivations that are clearly shrouded in mystery. The character surfaced during the finale as just a voice, but will have had the opportunity to spend several months with his biological mother (played by Madeleine Stowe) by the time that the new season actually begins on ABC.

Hopefully, this time means that Hartley and Stowe’s characters have formed some sort of relationship; Patrick could be useful as another potential ally, and the real version of what the Grayson family thought that they had temporarily with Emily’s adopted brother during season 2. The worst-case scenario? That he is a raving lunatic with some malicious plans of his own. We can’t imagine that he is going to enjoy every waking second with Mommy Dearest, who clearly did not want him enough to actually keep him. The mystery right now is just whether or not some of these conversations happened in the time before the season premiere picks up later this year. (If they have, it feels like a shame and a missed opportunity.)
