‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 spoilers: Candice Accola’s Caroline and a new love interest

We’ll start off this “Vampire Diaries” article with some bad news for all of you Forwood shippers out there: There is still no word as to when or even if Michael Trevino will be back on “The Vampire Diaries” for more work as Tyler. You would think that, in theory, the departure of Klaus would enable this to happen, but we’re not quite seeing anything just yet. Plus, when he does return you run the risk of there being another sort of Hayley situation. While she wasn’t a love interest by any means, she represented proof that he had moved forward with his life while away, and she did not know entirely how to handle that at first.

For season 5, it’s apparently Caroline’s turn to do a little bit of this moving on of her own. According to a new report from TVLine, one of the new characters coming to The CW this year is Jesse and he is going to serve as a love interest for Candice Accola’s character. He’s described as good-looking and confident, and depending on his experience in the supernatural world, it’s possible that he could represent an opportunity for her to consider life without trouble all of the time.

Meanwhile, it also seems that another new character in the resident geekette Megan could end up romancing Steven R. McQueen’s Jeremy at some point. She will show up at the Mystic Falls High School dance, which is themed around the 1950s. Maybe this will serve as some relief out there that even though the characters are moving on and getting older, good-ol’ school dances are still intact for people to dress up in snazzy costumes.
