‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Ben Rappaport to play the ‘other’ Carey

The Good WifeBack when we heard that “The Good Wife” was casting an attorney named “Carey” for an upcoming season 5 storyline, our reaction was pretty simple: They’re joking, right? It hardly made sense for the series to cast a Carey to go long with the Cary that they already have, given that this would become rather confusing, and we assumed that this was just some sort of placeholder name that they would come to change later.

As it turns out, though, this name is actually happening. According to a new report from TVLine, Ben Rappaport of “Outsourced” fame has been cast to play the role of this fourth-year Lockhart Gardner attorney, who chooses to join Alicia and Cary at the new firm in which they chose to start up back at the end of season 4. The character is described as intelligent and confident, but also at times prone to anxiety.

“The Good Wife” season 5 will kick off on Sunday, September 29 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and one of the questions we have when it comes to this character is inevitably going to be whether or not they will be able to handle being around such big personalities?  As for us, it will be trying to figure out when Carey is being addressed, and when Cary is doing the same thing. This happens all of the time in real life, but rarely do we see it on TV. One of our major concerns has less to do with the character, but how the show will be able to balance out showing both Alicia’s firm and Lockhart Gardner, without making the show feel at times as though it has way too much going on.

Carey is just one of many new additions coming on board “The Good Wife” for season 5; if you have yet to hear about the new love interest for Kalinda, our advice is to check out the story over at the link here.
