‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 spoilers: One filming location confirmed

JonEven before we knew anything for certain about the “Game of Thrones” season 4 filming process, it was easy to confirm one thing: The show would be heading to some other countries beyond just Northern Ireland. Dubrovnik, Croatia is inevitable, given that this is the site of King’s Landing, and it is impossible to have the show without it.

Now, we can say for certain that Iceland will be back once again for more. According to new reports via the CEO of Pegasus (via Winter Is Coming), Icelandic filming will take place later this year, even if the specific locations are still unclear.

Last year, production in the country was especially interesting, given that the crew in the area had to endure a blizzard, extremely cold temperatures, and difficult driving conditions (go figure) as they worked in the northern part of the country. This move was decided upon after they realized that there needed to be as much snow as possible for some of the scenes featuring the Wildings, which also happened to be one of the few times we saw Mance Rayder all season. (We’re still stunned by how little of a presence he ultimately had in the episodes … though we guess this is what happens when you’re adapting books with this much material stuffed in them.)
